Women and Girls: Peacebuilding and Decision-Making Coexistence Project

Women and Girls: Peacebuilding and Decision-Making Coexistence Project is part of “Women Voices’ First” program. The program is funded by Cordaid organization in cooperation with UKaid organization.  The project aims to build peace and involve women and girls in security and peace decisions. The project targets eighteen female activists from all governorates, Iraq, and the Kurdistan Region.

The period of the project was from 2021 to 2024, Every year, 18 female activists are graduated from every Iraqi governorate. The project aimed at building peace and involving women and girls in security and peace decisions, targeting eighteen female activists from all governorates of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

The participants were engaged in launching five initiatives aimed at educating women about UN Resolution 1325 and their role in decision-making. Tulip Foundation later expanded the project by selecting eighteen new activists each year, ensuring transparency in the selection process. We provided training on the National Action Plan and advocacy techniques, enabling participants to lead a unified campaign across Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. The project included discussions with police, military leaders, and civil society organizations to raise awareness about protecting women and girls. Our goal was to establish partnerships with security departments to ensure the safety and support of women facing violence.

Empowering Women for Peace

Through this initiative (2021-2024), the Tulip Foundation built a strong network of female activists, promoting women's roles in peace, security and decision making.

Resolution 1325

Supportive Network

The participants continued their initiatives, creating educational content and sharing it on social media to reach a broader audience in Iraq. 

Participants completed five initiatives aimed at educating women about UN Resolution 1325 and their role in decision-making.

Through this project Tulip Foundation created a Supportive Network, comprised of empowered female activists, and promoted the involvement of women in peace and security decisions.

The project also aimed to cooperate with clerics in all Iraqi governorates to build strong networks, stop hate speech, and encourage women and girls to exercise their political and social rights without restrictions.
